Spanish Club

Did you know that Sept. 15 is the start of Natil Hispanic Heritage Month? It is meant to celebrate the customs, legacies, and achievements of US citizens with Hispanic roots.

If you are interested in learning more about Hispanic culture, customs, and lots more, come to Spanish Club.  Everyone is welcome.  Our first meeting will be Thur., Sept. 26. Stope by room A112 for more info.  We will have chips and salsa!

Tennis

The Lady Cardinal tennis team defeated Excelsior Springs Wed. evening at the Hyde Court Tennis Complex by a score of 8-1.  The team is now 5-1 in the season. 

Golf

 

Congratulations to our girl's golf team, as they finished in 3rd place in the Maryville Tournament on Mon, Sept. 9.  Individually, Olivia Walters had a top ten finish as she coame away with an 8th pace overall medal. 

The team took 1st place in the Plattsburg Tournament on Fri.,  Sept. 6th.  In a best-ball format, Macy Bernard & Olivia Walters teamed up to finish 3rd place, while Peton Anderson and Jaida Cox finished in 4th place.  

STUCO

If you are a STUCO member, we have an opportunity to earn points! Southside Rotary is doing a trash pickup THIS Saturday from 9-10am.  We will meet at the white church (Fiath Valley) on Mission Rd. Please let Ms. Bolton know if you can make it. 

Speech and Debate

The next Speech and Debate meeting will be held on Friday, Sept. 13th immediately after school.  Please coordinte your rides and come prepared with your potential event interests in either individual events and/or debate.  If you are unable to attend, plase stop by Coach Bell's room (A1) for information. 

Volleyball Shirts

The volleyball team is selling t-shirts.  Support your favorite volleyball player and order a shirt with their number.  Order forms are avilable in Coach Bell's room (A1.) 

ACT

If you are taking the ACT this Saturday, Sept. 14, please be here by 7:40am. Check-in is on the top floor annex by the girl's bathroom.  You must have your admission ticket and a photo ID.  You also need to bring your calculator and #2 pencils-calculators are not provided.  

 

FAFSA Night- How to Get Money for College

Seniors planning on continuing your education, please come and get more information and/or complete your FAFSA!

If you are planning on completing the FAFSA, make sure you have all of the required materials.

You will need:

-Parent and Student login information (complete this at home before the meeting)

-2018 tax information for parent and student

-social security number

-other material may be needed, please visit: www.fafsa.gov for more information

"The Nest"

Student council wants to start a school store and we want to know what YOU want! Please go to the Benton website and fill out our inventory. 

Spotlight of the Month

We are going to start highlighting our staff and students.  Please go to the Benton website and vote for a staff member or student who you would like to nominate for being awesome.  

Homecoming Theme

Student Council wants you to vote for a homecoming theme!  Please go to the Benton website and vote for your favorite homecoming theme idea.  

Friday Pep Assembly 

For our pep assembly on Friday the dress up theme is going to be NEON!  Friday morning the band will be playing in the main hallway and STUCO will have some giveaways for you all!

5th Quarter

There will be a 5th Quarter event for teens immediately following the football game.  It ends at midnight and includes free pizza, pop, door prizes, games, and music.  It will be held at the Hyde-ing Place Youth Center (709 East Hyde Park Ave.) Come hang with friends in a fun and safe environment!

Student Council

Our next Student Coucil meeting will be Monday, Sept. 16 at 7:10 in conference room 110! We will be discussing our upcoming homecoming, dates to help STUCO, and how you can attend our district convention at Staley.  See you there!

Senior Sunrise, Sept. 20

Attention Seniors: There will be a Senior Sunrise on the football field on the mornig of September 20th. All seniors will gather at 6am to watch the sunrise and kick off our last year.  There will be pancakes, donuts, cornhole, and music.  Make sure to bring your own blankets to sit on.  

Cardinal Cook-Off, Friday, Sept. 13

Do you want to win a free meal from Buffalo Wild Wings?  If so, Benton STUCO is hosting their Cardinal Cook-Off on Sept. 13 before the Benton/Lafayette football game.  The winning team receives a platter of wings that can feed up to four people! It will take place in front of the field house from 5:30-6:30! If you wish to sign up, there is a sign up sheet outside of Ms. Bolton's room, 209.  You and three other friends can sign up for $20 per team. Hope to see some of your great cooking skills!

Wrestling

Any student, boy or girl, interested in wrestling this season needs to stop by room 100 to get information from Coach Hubbard- ASAP.  Also, an open workout schedule has been posted on the wall by the Modis Gym locker room.  

Class Rings

Friday, Sept 13 is the Junior class ring premier at 9:30i in the auditorium.  This meeting will take 30-45 munutes

College Fair

Seniors! If you are plannig on going to college, you need to attend the Missouri Western College Fair Wednesday, October 9th! Permission forms are available in the counseling center.  You must have your permission form returned by Friday, September 13th to attend.
