(ST. JOSEPH, Mo) The hallways and classrooms inside Central High School were buzzing with energy Friday despite a day off for students.
More than 1,000 employees from throughout the St. Joseph School District came together at Central for the Engage Innovation Summit. The conference-style event featured dozens of presenters, a vendor fair, student volunteers and entrepreneurs and a food truck hub out front.
The Engage Summit provides a platform that allows teachers and staff to learn from their peers and other experts. They have a menu of classes from which to choose, with a wide variety of subject matter on the menu.
Many of the presenters from the SJSD use this event as an opportunity to share best practices with others right here in their own backyard. The event even featured student groups who shared advice about what they "wish teachers knew."
Outside presenters come with an array of information that bolsters existing content and adds additional training and resources for teachers and staff.
The Engage Innovation Summit held on September 27 was the second event of this kind for the St. Joseph School District. Attendees have an opporutnity to provide feedback after the event to help guide future professional development opportunities.
