Students Exhange Letters with Medal of Honor Recipients

A writing project in Joy Vandel's English class at Central High School turned into something more than she ever expected.

She worked with students to write letters of thanks to Congressional Medal of Honor recipients. Students received responses from some of the recipients as well as their family members.

One response read, "It was my joy and privilege to read your letters. Thank you so very much."

Another said, "We are touched to hear that you were moved by the story of my grandfather's heroism in World War II."

The students also received photos, books and other items which really brought their writing project to life.
