(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) As the St. Joseph School District's superintendent, Dr. Doug Van Zyl nears his sixth month in St. Joseph, he continues to seek feedback from the community.
Dr. Van Zyl was able to speak with community members face-to-face during the district's second "Coffee and Conversation" this week. The small, informal gathering was held at Interserv on King Hill Avenue in St. Joseph.
This is the second Coffee and Conversation this fall. The first was held in October. The events are open to the public and encourage community members to share concerns and thoughts about the future of the SJSD.
In addition to these meetings, Dr. Van Zyl has visited with dozens of individuals and groups throughout the city as he works to learn more about the community and the steps needed to provide the best education and opportunities for the students served by the SJSD.
The next Coffee and Conversation takes place January 10 from 5-6 p.m. in the Board of Education Conference Room at 925 Felix Street.
