New Partnership Builds on Importance of Attendance
(August 12, 2019) -- The St. Joseph School District is pleased to announce a new partnership that will build on our goal of improving attendance and helping our schools communicate with families throughout the year.
In 2017, we increased our focus on attendance with the launch of Strive for 5 in the St. Joseph School District. The program encourages kids to miss five days or fewer during the school year. Strive for 5 brought awareness to the importance of regular attendance, while working to reduce barriers to attendance.
This year, the district is adding an extra layer support by partnering with AllHere Education, an industry leader in fighting chronic absenteeism and improving attendance, to help ensure all learners “show up.” AllHere, founded in Harvard University’s Innovation Lab, started with a teacher’s passion for supporting student attendance in the classroom. AllHere was created out of a need to understand why students were chronically missing school and how to support their attendance improvement.
As a part of our partnership with AllHere Education, parents may periodically receive communications regarding your student’s attendance. Those communications may be in the form of:
- Email to the email address of record
- Text message(s) sent to the cellular number on file
- Letter mailed home to the address of record
The St. Joseph School District believes that proactive, consistent and positive communications regarding your student’s attendance will help ensure their ability and opportunity to be successful this school year and throughout their time in school and beyond.
The district is committed to supporting and assisting families as we work together to create lifelong learners that understand the value and importance of showing up.
