Partner with Pathways

The St. Joseph School District (SJSD), in partnership with local business leaders, has been working to identify the skills and qualities students need to be successful after graduation.
These conversations led to the creation of A Portrait of a Graduate, which outlines five key attributes every student should develop before moving on to college, vocational training, the military, or the workforce.
To bring this vision to life, SJSD is boldly redefining the high school experience. Through College and Career Pathways, students at all three district high schools will engage directly with business partners in authentic, hands-on programs. These experiences—ranging from job shadowing and internships to mentorships and classroom guest speaking—help students build real-world skills while also strengthening the local workforce.
How businesses can get involved:
-
Offer work-based learning opportunities such as internships, mentorships, or job shadowing
-
Serve as a mock interviewer to help students practice essential skills
-
Visit a classroom as a guest speaker
-
Host a teacher to showcase your industry and workplace in action
-
Offer expertise to students on projects in-person, virtually, or over the phone
By collaborating with SJSD, you not only help shape the future workforce but also prepare students to become the kind of employees you want to hire. Together, we can ensure that every graduate is ready for success in life after high school.
