Community Engagement Invite GraphicDear St. Joseph School District Supporter,

The St. Joseph Board of Education approved a process to implement a community engagement program leading to the development of a long-range plan for our district at its August 23, 2021 meeting. This is an exciting and important project for the St. Joseph School District.

The program is being generously funded by the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce and Mosaic Life Care.

The effort will be designed, coordinated, and implemented by what we are calling a “Facilitating Team.” This “Team” will have the help of a community engagement consultant providing examples of best practices from other school districts and providing materials for review and refinement.

We need your help in selecting people to serve on this team! We are hoping to collect as many names as possible and then select 15-20 people who broadly represent our district in terms of age, geography, background, etc. Those not selected will be invited to our community engagement sessions that we hope to begin in the spring.

Please click here for more information and to fill out the form, you can include up to 20 names of individuals you think would be an ideal representative for this committee. Please respond by September 22.

The first step in the process is to invite the 15-20 people selected to serve on the Facilitating Team to an orientation meeting. At that meeting we will discuss the “charge” from the Board of Education, why a long-range improvement plan is needed and the role of the team.

Thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by email at OfficeoftheSuperintendent@sjsd.k12.mo.us or by phone at 816-671-4003.

Sincerely,
Doug Van Zyl
