The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has recently extended several flexibilities that will allow all students attending three schools in the St. Joseph School District to receive free meals through December 31, 2020 or until available funding runs out through the Seamless Summer Option program.

The three schools include: Benton High School, Pershing and Skaith. Beginning September 4, breakfasts and lunches will be served at no charge to all students in those buildings.

Students who attend Central, Bode, Field, Ellison and Oak Grove must either pay for meals or apply for free or reduced meal status.

The Seamless Summer Option program has no impact on the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) which provides the option to offer free meals to all students in eligible high poverty Local Education Agencies (LEA) and schools without collecting household applications. Currently, 14 schools in the SJSD qualify for the CEP program.
