The St. Joseph Community is invited to the third SJSD Vision Forward Community Engagement Session tomorrow night,
Tuesday, March 29 at the Word of Life Church, 3902 NE Riverside Rd., starting at 6 p.m. The topic will be on PreK - Grade 5 education with a focus on how to improve student academic achievement. Dr. Diane Rutledge, a nationally prominent educator, will be a co-presenter, along with the St. Joseph School District’s Assistant Director of Special Programs Dlo DuVall.
Dr. Rutledge currently works with District Leadership Solutions (DLS), the firm that will coordinate the first draft of a SJSD Action Plan this summer following the completion of the first round of engagement sessions. “We’re very excited about having someone with Dr. Rutledge’s credentials address Vision Forward,” commented Bob Miller, co-chair of Vision Forward. “Based on conversations with many educators, we know that getting kids off to a good start is critically important. So, this presentation, and what we will learn, is key to our Vision Forward process and its ability to develop an impactful Action Plan for our school district.”
Teresa Simmons, also a Vision Forward co-chair, added, “We believe Vision Forward is so important for our school district and its students. We are thankful to the entire community for their support of this improvement project. We have a lot of work to get done and we are looking forward to continuing our efforts with our next community session that focuses on Pre-K and elementary education.”
“We’ve been delighted with participation in our meetings, and we hope even more will attend our third session to hear from Dr. Rutledge and Mrs. DuVall,” said Dave Hinde, who also co-chairs Vision Forward. “I think St. Joseph residents will be impressed with her positive approach to bringing about real change. We’re looking forward to her presentation.”
