
The St. Joseph Board of Education is proud to announce the approval of the promotions or transfers of eight current SJSD educators.
Mark Korell, currently assistant principal at Benton High School has been selected as the new principal at Robidoux Middle School. Korell will replace Mark Weis who has been appointed principal at Savannah High School. Korell earned an associate degree in criminal justice and a bachelor’s degree in history at Missouri Western State University and a master’s degree in elementary and secondary administration from Northwest Missouri State University. He will earn an education specialist degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 2023.
Megan Lowe will be promoted from assistant principal at Spring Garden Middle School to principal. Lowe will replace Rebecca Shilling who has been selected as the lead principal at East Buchanan Middle School. Lowe received a degree in business administration from Missouri Western State University, and NCATE Certification/Business and educational leadership K-12 from Northwest Missouri State University.
Dr. Leah Richardson has been promoted from assistant principal to principal at Webster Alternative School. She replaces Jon Salanky who will transfer to Central High School as assistant principal. Dr. Richardson received a bachelor’s in elementary education with an emphasis in mathematics from Missouri Western State University. She obtained her master’s in educational leadership from William Woods University and her Ph.D. in educational leadership from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
Dr. Lacey Adams will become the new principal at Bessie Ellison Elementary. Dr. Adams has served as principal of Carden Park Elementary for the past eight years. She earned a bachelor’s in elementary education from Northwest Missouri State University, master’s in elementary leadership, an education specialist degree in superintendency and a doctorate in leadership from William Woods University. She replaces Dr. Kara Anderson who will serve as the assistant director of special services.
John Wachtel will become the new principal at Carden Park Elementary. Wachtel has served as assistant principal at Carden Park since 2017. Wachtel received a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Missouri Western State University and a master’s in administration from William Woods University.
Jon Salanky will become an assistant principal at Central High School after serving as principal at Webster Alternative School. Salanky received his bachelor’s in elementary education/special education K-12 from Missouri Western State University, master’s in education in administration and an education specialist degree in administration from William Woods University.
Tanya Sharp has been appointed assistant principal at Robidoux Middle School for the upcoming year. Sharp has been serving Robidoux MS as an administrative intern. Sharp earned her bachelor’s in education, a master’s in education: science education and an education specialist degree in secondary school principalship all from Northwest Missouri State University.
Jason Simpson will be serving as assistant principal at Webster Alternative School after serving as assistant principal at Central High School. Simpson has a bachelor’s in business administration from Central Missouri State University and a master’s in secondary educational leadership from Northwest Missouri State University.
All appointees will assume their positions July 1, 2022.
