Reentry Plan Update Graphic

(July 29, 2020) There have been two important updates made to our reentry plan.

First, we have had a large response to students who will be attending school virtually. In order to make sure we are in the best situation possible we feel some additional days are needed to help with multiple items. In order to accomplish this we will be moving the start date for students to August 31st.

This will allow us to do things such as;

  • Additional time for IEP team meetings
  • Professional development for elementary staff on Canvas, the Virtual Academy platform
  • Time for buildings to develop and train on reentry guidelines and procedures
  • Time for staff to rearrange rooms to meet distancing guidelines
  • Time to adjust any necessary schedule changes
  • Time for staff to settle into buildings
  • Training of staff for remote learning.  Inclement weather days in the coming year will be done remotely so everyone needs to be prepared

Other than the first day of school moving to August 31st, the academic calendar will remain the same, this includes early outs on Wednesdays, and May 27th, as the last day of school. Remote learning will take place on snow days to allow for the shift. All enrollment dates will remain unchanged.

Second, after listening to our parent, guardian, and student feedback and with recommendations from the CDC, St. Joseph Health Department and MOSAIC, the school district is adjusting the language used in regards to its masks and face coverings policy from expected to required. The district will be requiring masks or face coverings for all staff, students, visitors, and vendors when in a district facility or using district transportation. As an exception, the covering may be removed when the individual is in a setting in which social distancing can clearly be maintained for an extended period of time or during scheduled socially distanced breaks as established by schools. As a district, we want to protect the health and safety of everyone in our buildings. Please talk to your children about the requirement of wearing a mask during the school day. Please plan to send a mask with your child daily, as a limited number of masks will be available at the school buildings.

More information about reentry can be found under the back to school tab, thank you.
