Central High School Senior Receives National Award for Scientific Research

(January 8, 2021) Isabella Wiebelt-Smith, a Central High School senior, is one of 300 students nationwide recognized as a Regeneron Science Talent Search scholar for 2021. 

The Regeneron Science Talent Search scholars were selected from 1,760 applications received from 611 high school schools across 45 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and 10 countries.

Scholars were chosen based on their exceptional research skills, commitment to academics, innovative thinking and promise as scientists. 

Wiebelt-Smith is a member of National Honor Society, Math club treasurer, Missouri Scholar’s Academy and participates in soccer, cross country and choir. She is also a National Merit Scholar semifinalist.

The Regeneron Science Talent Search is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. The scholars and their schools will be awarded $2,000 each.
