The St. Joseph Board of Education voted 6-1 at its December meeting to make masking optional when students return to the classroom on January 4, 2022. COVID-19 testing will continue to be offered at two locations, the Community Clinic at Carden Park Elementary and Downing Pediatrics.

Parents will be contacted by their child’s school if they have been exposed to a positive COVID case. The student exposed can continue to attend school if they show no sign of symptoms. Parents should monitor their children closely during this time. If a student is sick, they should stay at home.

The district will continue to maintain social distancing of three feet, assigned seating on school buses, frequent cleaning and sanitizing of high -touch areas and handwashing/hand sanitizer will be strongly encouraged.

Masks will still be required on school buses, as mandated by the CDC and the Department of Transportation.

The Board of Education will review the policy monthly.

As a reminder, 2nd semester enrollment for the Virtual Academy is currently open.
