A St. Joseph School District leader has earned recognition on the state level.

Kim Hill, SJSD's Coordinator of Counseling, has been selected by the Missouri School Counselor Association (MSCA) as MSCA's Coordinator of School Counseling of the Year for 2019-2020.

MSCA honors professionals who demonstrate exceptional support for the field of school counseling and/or for counselors supervised.

Hill has been invited to an awards ceremony at the MCSA fall conference in November. This year's honorees will also be recognized during a gala at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City.

Back in March, Hill received the Director of the Year Award from the Northwest Missouri School Counselors Association (NWMSCA). She was the NWMSCA Elementary Counselor of the Year in 2003-04 and served as NWMSCA president in 2010-11. She serves on several state committees, including the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) State Counseling Advisory Board and the Missouri School Counselor Association (MSCA) Legislative Advisory Committee.

Hill has been with the St. Joseph School District for more than 20 years. Prior to her position as Coordinator of Counseling, she was at Central High School for six years, four as Department Chair of Counseling. She was elementary counselor at Coleman Elementary for 10 years and was assistant counselor at Bode Middle School for one year.
