The St. Joseph School District has filled a key leadership position for the 2020-2021 school year.

Shannon Nolte will join the district leadership team as Director of Secondary Education. Nolte currently serves as superintendent for the West Nodaway R-I School District. He previously held the role of principal for West Nodaway. Prior to that, Nolte was a principal at North Andrew R-VI where he also taught during his career in education.

Nolte has a bachelor's degree from Wichita State University, a master's degree from Northwest Missouri State University and a specialist degree in superintendency from Northwest.

Nolte's wife, Marty, was born and raised in St. Joseph and they have close family ties to the area.

"We are very familiar with St. Joseph in many ways," said Nolte. "My sister-in-law works as an optometrist in St. Joseph and my niece is in the pre-med program at Missouri Western State University."

Nolte's wife also works in education as a media specialist at Maryville Middle School. His son is junior at Maryville High School and his daughter is in the 7th grade at Maryville Middle School

Nolte will officially join the SJSD in July. The Board of Education approved the appointment during an executive session in late March.
