St. Joseph Adult Education & Literacy
The St. Joseph Adult Education & Literacy (AEL) Program is located at Webster Learning Center (Door 4) at 1211 N. 18th Street in St. Joseph. Phone: 816-671-4020.
This program provides services for adults 17 and older who need their high school equivalency (HSE), English language learners, skill enhancement, and/or a path to career and college readiness skills. The AEL program has been a part of the community since 1954 when Principal Ruth Huston began the program as a service to the community.
The AEL program serves Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton, DeKalb & Grundy counties. In addition to the main location at Webster, there are several AEL satellite locations. It serves approximately 1500-1600 students per year through HSE (High School Equivalency) or ELL (English Language Learners) courses. At the Webster location, the program has about 200 ELL students who speak 27 different languages and and/or dialects.

Mrs. Wymore received her B.S. in Secondary Education from Missouri Western State University. She also has a B.S. from the University of Central Missouri and is currently working on her M.Ed. in Adult Education from Southern Illinois State University in Edwardsville.
Mrs. Wymore has been the Adult Education and Literacy Supervisor for the St. Joseph School District for 27 years. Under her guidance, the Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program serves around 1,300 students per year and has class sites in Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton, Grundy, and Harrison County.
