English for Speakers of Other Languages
The ESOL Program Office is located at the Keatley Center, 1202 South 28th Street (lower level). 816-671-4119 (Phone) 816-671-4464 (FAX)
Our offices register and enroll all new students who come from other countries or who speak a language other than English at home. ESOL staff administer an English assessment to determine whether they qualify to participate in the English for Speakers of Other Languages program. If a student qualifies, he or she will receive additional English instruction from an ESOL Specialist.
Our district has two ESOL center schools on the elementary level: Edison Elementary and Hyde Elementary. At the ESOL center schools, an ESOL endorsed teacher provides intensive English language instruction to English Language Learners for a time period based on students’ abilities. ESOL services are available at all district schools, with an ESOL-endorsed teacher assigned to each school.
