    The Adult Education & Literacy (AEL) Program is located at Webster Learning Center at 1211 N. 18th Street. Phone: 816-671-4020. 

    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
    AEL instruction is designed to expand the educational opportunities for adults and to establish programs that will enable adults to acquire basic skills necessary to function in society and allow them to secure training that will enable them to become more employable, productive and responsible citizens as well as allowing them to continue their education to at least the level of completion of secondary school. Our program offers English as a second language instruction to individuals unable to speak, read, or write the English language.

    ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS
    Adults 17 years of age or older not presently enrolled in secondary school and speakers of English as a second language.

    SERVICE AREA
    The St. Joseph AEL Program 
    serves Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton, DeKalb & Grundy counties. In addition to the main location at Webster Learning Center, there are satellite locations in Bethany, Cameron, and Trenton.

    Mrs. Wymore received her B.S. in Secondary Education from Missouri Western State University. She also has a B.S. from the University of Central Missouri and is currently working on her M.Ed. in Adult Education from Southern Illinois State University in Edwardsville.

    Mrs. Wymore has been the Adult Education and Literacy Supervisor for the St. Joseph School District for 27 years. Under her guidance, the Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program serves around 1,300 students per year and has class sites in Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton, Grundy, and Harrison County.
