    General/Vascular Program

Hillyard Technical Center offers a comprehensive General/Vascular Sonography program.  The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is a 20 month program, 5 days a week.

The students are engaged in both didactic and clinical training during that time.  The program offers multiple clinical sites throughout Northwest Missouri, including some affiliates in the Kansas City metropolitan area.  Upon completion of the program students are eligible to take the national board exams in four different sonography concentrations.  These include Vascular Technology, Abdomen/Small Parts, OB/GYN, and Breast.

Diagnostic medical sonography is the use special equipment to direct high frequency sound waves into areas of the patient's body.  Which collects reflected echoes and forms an image that may be videotaped, transmitted, or photographed for interpretation and diagnosis by a physician.

The sonography program is still working out the kinks for applications for fall of next year (fall 2020). Please keep in contact with Jaclyn Pruitt, Program Coordinator, for inquiries. She may be reached at jaclyn.pruitt@mcckc.edu
