Opportunity for High School Seniors Interested in Becoming a Teacher for the St. Joseph School District
Recipients may :
• Receive up to $4,000 per year for four years
• Receive the opportunity for professional development during the summer
• Be hired to teach for the St. Joseph School District once the student graduates from college and becomes a certified teacher
To apply, students MUST:
• Be a BHS, CHS, or LHS senior
• Have a 2.7 GPA or higher
• Have a composite score of 18 or higher on the ACT
• Complete and sign the applicant form
• Write a personal statement (1-2 pages) describing educational goals and interest in teaching for the St. Joseph School District
• Provide three letters of reference
Once Selected, Recipients are Required to:
• Attend a college or university and major in a program of study that will lead to teacher certification.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above
• Graduate with a degree in education and become certified to teach
• Teach for the St. Joseph School District at least one (1) year for every year of participation in the Grow Your Own program.
