Grow Your Own

Opportunity for High School Seniors Interested in Becoming a Teacher for the St. Joseph School District

Recipients may :

Receive up to $4,000 per year for four years
Receive the opportunity for professional development during the summer
Be hired to teach for the St. Joseph School District once the student graduates from college and becomes a certified teacher

To apply, students MUST:

Be a BHS, CHS, or LHS senior
Have a 2.7 GPA or higher
Have a composite score of 18 or higher on the ACT
Complete and sign the applicant form
Write a personal statement (1-2 pages) describing educational goals and interest in teaching for the St. Joseph School District
Provide three letters of reference

Once Selected, Recipients are Required to:

Attend a college or university and major in a program of study that will lead to teacher certification.
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above
Graduate with a degree in education and become certified to teach
Teach for the St. Joseph School District at least one (1) year for every year of participation in the Grow Your Own program.
