The St. Joseph Board of Education has appointed Dr. Robert Sigrist as the Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations, effective July 1, 2022. Sigrist will take over from Dr. Gabe Edgar who has been appointed Superintendent.
Sigrist received his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He earned his M.S. in Secondary Administration from Northwest Missouri State University and his B.S. in Natural Science from Missouri Western State University.
Sigrist’s prior administrative experience includes appointments as the director of student services for the St. Joseph School District, the principal at Savannah High School, and assistant principal at Central High School. He has served as an adjunct professor for William Woods University, teaching a variety of courses on educational administration. Sigrist was also in the first class of certified School Safety Specialists in Missouri.
Sigrist has received several awards and accomplishments during his career including the MASSP/Walsworth Consummate Professional Award (2015) and Northwest Region MASSP Assistant Principal of the Year (2011). He has served on a variety of community and state boards, including the Missouri Western alumni association, the Missouri School Safety Association, the St. Joseph Sports Commission, and United Way.
In addition, Sigrist has presented to numerous professional organizations about student intervention programs, instructional practice, assessment, and social media.
