MTSS Implementation in the SJSD

In January, a district leadership team was launched to guide implementation of MTSS and the MMD-B initiative. In June, the school board set the implementation of MTSS as their top priority during the annual board retreat. In August, secondary schools began implementation of the CharacterStrong social-emotional learning curriculum.

MTSS was added as a focus area on the SJSD Continuous Improvement Plan. Initial implementation of BrightBytes to support problem solving and guide targeted academic and behavioral interventions. In December, the SJSD joined the Missouri Model District for Behavior (MMD-B) initiative to align K-12 systems and practices.

Implementation of i-Ready to support progress monitoring and intervention in literacy and mathematics. The SJSD launched the Strive for Five attendance initiative to build awareness of the risk of chronic absenteeism and to improve educational outcomes.

The SJSD hosted and participated in the MO-CASE MTSS Workshop Series in Northwest Missouri.

Several schools began implementation of SW-PBS systems and practices.
