Program DescriptionHillyard Technical Center’s Radiography program is a full-time, 23 month program consisting of six (6) semesters that is fully accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Academic year = 1163 hours, 35 weeks. Completion = 2459 hours, 80 weeks. The curriculum is in alignment with the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) requirements and contains didactic and clinical components. Curriculum is competency based and is designed to develop health care professionals who possess entry-level skills in diagnostic imaging. The Radiography program is a full-time program meeting five days a week from 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on class days and 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on clinical days. Reliable transportation is a must, as travel to clinical sites up to 90 miles from St. Joseph will be required.Upon successful completion of Hillyard Technical Center’s Radiography program, the student will be awarded a certificate of completion in Radiography. In addition to the certificate of completion issued by Hillyard Technical Center, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) requires a minimum of an Associate’s Degree for eligibility for the national certification examination. In articulation with North Central Missouri College (NCMC), University of Central Missouri (UCM), and Northwest Missouri State University (NWMSU) Hillyard Technical Center offers two “Tracks” toward certification eligibility based on the student’s level of educational achievement at the time of admission to Hillyard Technical Center’s Radiography program. Both tracks will follow the same application, prerequisites, and admissions requirements.Track A: Students seeking their first degree from a regionally accredited institution must, in addition to acceptance and enrollment at Hillyard Technical Center, also be accepted to and maintain enrollment at an articulated Radiologic Technology/Science Degree program (NCMC, UCM, or NWMSU). Track A students will concurrently take core Radiography courses at Hillyard Technical Center and any remaining general education courses through the articulated institution. After meeting all requirements for Hillyard Technical Center’s Radiography Program and the articulated institutions degree requirements, the student will receive a certificate of completion in Radiography from Hillyard Technical Center, and a Degree in Radiologic Technology/Science from the articulated institution. The student will then be eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification examination.Track B: Students holding an Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution at the time of admission to Hillyard Technical Center’s Radiography program will only be required to take core Radiography courses at Hillyard Technical Center, unless they wish to voluntarily pursue Track A. After meeting all requirements for Hillyard Technical Center’s Radiography program the student will receive the certificate of completion in Radiography from Hillyard Technical Center. The certificate of completion from Hillyard Technical Center, in conjunction with the student’s pre-existing degree, will establish eligibility for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification examination.
