Educating Each Child for Success
21st Century Teaching
Teaching in the 21st Century is founded on the premise that students must be career ready and prepared for success in a global economy. Therefore, educators must be student-centric, teaching about how to learn as much as teaching about the subject area.
21st Century Learning
Learning in the 21st Century recognizes the importance of core knowledge, but demands that this knowledge be used as a platform by which students can expand and create learning relevant to the world in which they will live and work. Learning must utilize both 21st Century content and context.
21st Century ToolsThe use of 21st Century tools in the St. Joseph School District must be grounded in the learning process. 21st Century tools provide students an avenue to succeed as citizens in a global society in which information is growing at an exponential rate. These tools do not negate the role of people (teachers) or place (school) in learning, but it does change their definitions and their dynamics. We must consider the contexts for learning that will facilitate the best use of 21st Century tools.
