• Content

Content in the SJSD defines the parameters of what and how students should learn. Content is viewed as the core foundational knowledge needed to enhance the learning process beyond the classroom. We believe that any attempt to define the content focus for a course of study should begin with core elements represented by the five following points:

Utilize ideas that have an enduring value beyond the classroom

Reside at the heart of the discipline

Require examination of abstract or often misunderstood ideas

Offer the potential for engaging students

Define the depth of understanding needed to facilitate the learning
