• National and State Licensure

Hillyard Technical Center's Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program promotes the licensure of all sonographers practicing in a diagnostic setting.  The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program supports the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography's misson to "promote quality care and patient safety through certification and continuing competency of ultrasound professionals."  Currently, Missouri does not require state or national licensure to practice sonography. However, most employers in the area are requiring that employees hold at least one of the national certifications offered by nationally recognized organizations.
There are multiple pathways to obtain national certifications through nationally recognized organizations.  Hillyard Technical Center promotes students to choose an organization and pursue national certification during the program or immediately upon completion.   Completion of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Hillyard Technical Center grants the sonography students eligibility to sit for several of the  ARDMS national certification exams under prerequisite 2.
Detailed information about the prerequisite options can be found on the ARDMS website or on the attachment found below.
