No matter what reason you may have for enrolling in an AEL course, it can provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to achieve your goals.
AEL courses are not like a regular school. AEL is planned just for adults to meet the needs and schedules of men and women who work and have families.
The AEL program offers the "Learning Center" approach. As a student, you go to one of the AEL sites located throughout St. Joseph and the surrounding area any time during the year. Day and evening classes are available and you can set up your own schedule.
In AEL, you may work at your own pace or you may work with a teacher.
It is free! There is no cost to students enrolled in AEL courses. AEL programs are supported with Federal funds under the Adult Basic Education Act of 1966, by State funds, approved by the Missouri Legislature and from contributions.
It is convenient! AEL courses are offered at seven St. Joseph locations, and at three sites outside the city.
It is personalized! AEL courses concentrate on what you need to learn. When you begin an AEL course, teachers work closely with you to determine what reading, writing and math skills you already have. Instruction is geared to what you need and want to achieve your goals.
