PICKETT, COLEMAN, COLGAN CENTER RECOGNIZED BY DESE
Three St. Joseph School District schools have been recognized by DESE for effective implementation of Positive Behavior Support.
Pickett and Coleman Elementary Schools and Colgan Alternative Resource Center earned the “Bronze” level of recognition for implementation of Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support.
PBS is a systemic approach to creating safer and more effective schools by structuring the environment to support the academic and social success of students. It focuses on encouraging positive behavior support, preventing disruptive behavior and tailoring academic strategies to individual student needs.
“We’re very proud of the school staffs and leadership for making positive behavior support work so well in their schools,” said Superintendent of Schools Melody Smith. “PBS is a great tool for making a difference in the lives of children.”
This was the second year Pickett Elementary School has been recognized for its effective use of PBS.
