Skaith Accelerated School, named in honor of Mr. Francis L. Skaith, sits on the edge of the Deer Park Neighborhood. Mr. Skaith was a well known educator of this area who was the principal of Pickett School and later became superintendent of the former Pickett School District, prior to becoming part of the St. Joseph School District. Additions to the school were completed in 1972 and again in 2000. Today the school provides students in grades Kindergarten to sixth with many learning opportunities. Skaith houses one of the District's multicategorical special education programs as well as the regular education program.
