PTA Meeting 

9/18/12

45 Members Present           

 

6:00 PM – Meeting was called to order by PTA President, Jackie Grimwood.

Thanked everyone for coming and read inspirational quote:

6:05 PM – Introductions were made around the room.  All in attendance introduced themselves, their relationship with Eugene Field and the number of children/grades attending, they have at Field.

 

6:10 PM – Committee Reports 

2nd Vice – Lisa Smith – Reported that we were still in need of a few room moms.  Room moms will have a short upcoming meeting, regarding their responsibility in the classroom.

Treasurer – Laurie Follmer – told a little about her position as Treasurer.  Spoke about upcoming PTA Mini Grants.  Teachers can apply for money in their classroom, but preference will go to newer teachers that have need.

Secretary – Melissa Winn – reported about upcoming dates:

*October 5th – School Carnival

*October 24th and 25th – Conferences and Book Fair

(Mrs. Lawrence is now looking for volunteers to help with the Book Fair.)
Fall Classroom Parties – kids are still allowed to bring treats for Halloween but an Official Treat Bag from room moms will not be passed out.  Instead we will focus more on the Fall Party, Nov. 2nd.   Coach Snider is still planning on having the Haunted Gym, and could use some Duct Tape or Toilet Paper donations.

·            Ways to Help Your School: Target Red Card and use the Recycle Bin (2 locations)

 

·            All PTA notes will be posted on the website, along with all other types of information pertaining to Eugene Field.

 

Principal – Deborah Stephens

            Thanked everyone for coming.  Spoke about Tiger Café, purpose of PTA meetings, and what a great school we have. Parents are a huge part of Eugene Fields Success.

Carnival – Jessica Ruden – Carnival is underway.  Going well, we have lots of volunteers already.  If you would like to sign up to help, we do have some spots available. This is Jessica’s last year as Carnival chair, looking for someone to take it over next year.

Carnival – Food and Drink – Molly Shutt and Hilary Newey – All is going well, they are waiting to hear from Pizza Hut.  We will have FOOD!!

Gift Baskets – No Report

Hospitality – Christine Bosman – will be working on lunch for upcoming PT Conferences.  She is going to send out a survey as to favorite eats and drinks!

Kindergarten Signs – Lou Ann Cadden – Signs went well and was lots of fun.

Mini Grants – Laurie Follmer – Already Covered, no report

Reading Counts – Alison Byrd – Going well, planning on having the Reading Counts store up and running each quarter.

Reflections – Robin Vanhooser – Reflections is going to Digital Entry’s, there will be more information to come.

School Sign – Alex DuFrain – We have a new sign, but it is going to be tweaked a bit to make the Tigers Larger.   Everyone agreed we enjoy the sign and it is very useful.

Spell A Thon – No Report

T-Shirt Sales  - T Shirts will be sold during the Carnival and we still have $5.00 to sell. 

Volunteer Coordinator – Janell Becerra – We want our volunteer hours to be over the top.  Janell encourages everyone to log their hours, even if you volunteer from home, or go on Field Trips.

Yearbook – no report

Amendment to our Bylaws – An amendment was presented to change our PTA meeting from 5 meeting per year to 4 meetings per year.

6:51 PM – New Business – Heidi Meyer purposed that PTA buys the teachers colored paper for their classrooms.  PTA is going to look into this purchase, as well as see what our District Warehouse has to offer.
