This course is for students who want to work on refrigeration, air conditioning or heating units and systems for: Cooling and Heating Contractors; Fuel Oil Dealers; School Systems; Manufacturing Plants.
First year: Safety, Trade Terms, Tools, Measuring; Tubing and Connections; Soldering and Brazing; Soft Solder; Silver Solder; Oxyacetylene Soldering and Brazing; Basic Electricity; Fundamentals of Air Conditioning, Basic Refrigeration; Domestic Refrigeration; Electrical Controls; and Residential/Light Commercial Cooling and Heating.
Second Year: Safety; Controls; Domestic Refrigeration; Commercial Refrigeration; Residential/Light Commercial Cooling; Heating; Fundamentals of Air Conditioning; Heat Pumps; and Various Heating Systems; EPA Certification Preview and Test.
Prefer (but not required) a C or better in Algebra ,needs to understand fractions and decimals, and needs to read and comprehend on a 10th grade reading level.
