 Product branding and identity is one of the most important marketing strategies to focus on when bringing a brand new product to consumers. You have to make your product pop off of the shelf to the consumer. They may not know your product, but they are curious and intrigued by either the logo, packaging or the product itself and want to know more. One industry that has been very competitive has been the mobile headphone industry. Bose, Monster's Beat by Dr. Dre, Sony, and Skullcandy have all had very creative ways to reel in new and existing customers as they all cater to a slightly different personality.
 
Your goal is to create a brand new headphone that stands above the rest of the competition. It is your job to create an identity and brand the product on several promotional items along with the design of the product itself.
 
 Step 1
Before you start designing, you must do research. Use the provided matrix to compare and contrast three different headphones of your choosing. After completing the matrix you need to do some more research looking at logo design, layout, styling and more.
 
Step 2
Come up with a unique name and a ruff sketch of a logo design for the headphones.
 
Step 3
You will be provided the initial headphone design in vector form. From there you can redesign the headphones how ever you would like to make them unique to your style. Here are the list of required items:
  • 3 Color Logo
  • Headphone design with logo applied
  • Packaging for the headphones to be sold in stores
  • Promotional Poster to go in stores

Once you are done with your designs, you will pitch your idea to me and the class will critique and vote on the designs.
