  • Classroom Activities Oct 1, 2012

    The HVAC Class is progressing very well. HVAC 1 student have covered Safety, Soldering and brazing, and have started electricity. Student in the lab have made , Single Flares, Double Flares, have soldered different pieces of copper tubing together in different positions. They have also made a loop project and all had the loop test to 200 pounds of nitrogen pressure. All have passed and only a few had leaks that needed repair. Students now are working on different electrical projects in the shop. Some are working on 3 phase motor controllers, some are working on small current relay trainers, some are working on larger current relay trainers, and some are wiring up the light trainer boards.

     HVAC 2 students have been working on Piping systems and piping layouts, as well as some of the accessories added to  systems to make the operate more effiently. Today they will start Desiccants and drier, which are part of the filter/driers used to clean and dry out any water that may be in the refrigerant. Lab time has been used working on the various refrigerant trainers in the shop.

  • School to start 8/16/2012

    The new school yeat is set to start  8/16/2012. Where has summer went? The summer for me has been a very restful summer and has allowed me to recharge my batteries. I hope all the new students this year will arrive ready for school, be willing to learn, and achieve all their goals.

  • HVAC Night Class EPA Test

    The HVAC Night class took The EPA Section 608 test last evening 4/18/2012. The following people recieved these certifications:
    Ryan Courtney; Type 1
    Cory Marlowe; Universal Tech.
    Cody Carson; Type 1 and Type 2
    Dylan Brunshidle; Type 1 and Type 2
    Jamey Emery; Universal Tech.
    Michael Emery; Universal Tech.

    Congradulations to all these men for there hard work and certifications

  • HVAC Excellence Gas H.E.A.T. exam and R410A Safety Test

    Today Myrick McLey took his HVAC Excellence Gas H.E.A.T exam and received a passing score. David Rupell took the R410A safety exam and also received a passing score. Both of the tests were taken on line through HVAC Excellence. Both men should be congradulated for their harsd work, and studing for these exams.

  • HVAC Excellence Gas Heat

    Congratulations to Collin Huff, Lucas Winder , and Danny Dittemore, for taking and passing the HVAC Excellence Gas Heat exam. This exam is the final certification exam that the HVAC students are required to take before graduation or before they can leave class for "on the job" training.

  • EPA Certification

  • Sophomore Tours This Week

    This week Hillyard Technical Center welcomes the sending school sophomores to our school. This is the week that the school opens for tours to all the sending school sophomores. Each class is to display the talents and the works of their class to the tours. These sophomores then make a comittment to Hillyard Technical Center to attend in the fall as juniors.

  • The HVAC/R students this week have been replacing 3 furnaces and air conditioners.

    The HVAC/R Students this week have been replacing 3 furnaces and air conditioners in the shop/lab area. Progress has been a little slow but they are progressing.There is a lot of information that they have been learning from these new installs. In the classroom they have been covering the EPA certification material. This is a 100 question exam broken into 4 parts of 25 questions in each part.. The goal is to pass each part and achieve the Universal Technician certificate. The EPA certification is needed to work in the HVAC field. The date set for the exam is Feb.1,2012. Good luck to each student testing.
